Public Prosecution Highlights Strict Penalties and Zero-Tolerance Policy

The UAE has reinforced its commitment to combat hate speech, with penalties including imprisonment and hefty fines, according to the country's Public Prosecution.
Under Article 7 of Federal Decree Law No. 34 of 2023 on Combatting Discrimination, Hatred, and Extremism, individuals found guilty of inciting hatred face:
A minimum prison sentence of one year.
Fines ranging from Dh 500,000 to Dh 1 million.
Penalties applied through any means of expression, including digital platforms.
The Public Prosecution emphasized the UAE’s zero-tolerance policy on hate speech in a video shared on Instagram. The initiative serves as a reminder of the strict repercussions for those promoting hate or discrimination.
The UAE's firm stance highlights the importance of fostering an inclusive and harmonious society, underscoring that acts of hate speech will not be tolerated.
