UAE Launches Blue Visa for Sustainability Leaders
First Phase Welcomes 20 Environmental Innovators

The UAE has introduced the first phase of the Blue Visa, a decade-long residency program aimed at recognizing exceptional contributions to environmental sustainability. The initiative, launched by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP), was announced at the World Governments Summit 2025, taking place in Dubai from February 11 to 13.
The inaugural phase will grant Blue Visas to 20 sustainability thought leaders and innovators who have made significant strides in environmental protection. This visa extends the UAE’s Golden and Green Residency programs, offering long-term residency to individuals who have championed sustainability efforts both locally and globally.
Eligible recipients include members of international organizations, NGOs, global award winners, distinguished researchers, and activists in environmental fields. Applications can be submitted through the ICP’s online portal or mobile app, with nominations also accepted from UAE-based authorities.
Dr. Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to positioning itself as a global leader in sustainability by attracting top environmental experts. Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of ICP, assured round-the-clock availability of the Blue Visa application service for eligible individuals.
This initiative reinforces the UAE’s long-term sustainability vision, aligning with its efforts to foster innovation and environmental leadership on a global scale.
