UAE Public Prosecution Warns of Heavy Penalties for Embezzling Movable Properties

The Public Prosecution in the United Arab Emirates has detailed the penalties that will be imposed on people who embezzle or attempt to embezzle a movable asset that has been pledged as a security for a debt.
The offender will be sentenced to up to two years in prison and fined at least 20,000 AED under Article 455 of Federal Decree-Law No. 31/2021.
If some of the movable goods that are subject to a judicial or administrative confiscation order are embezzled, the owner entrusted to protect them will face the same consequences.
