A court ordered a woman to pay her ex-husband AED 713,000 due to a joint property ownership dispute.
The man filed a suit against his ex-wife. He said that before they divorced, they both agreed to invest in real estate and pay for it in installments.
They used the lease-to-own system to buy a villa in the Arabian Ranches area and two apartments in the Marina area. But they split up before they had paid off all of the payments. The plaintiff kept paying his share and his ex-share. wife's Once the payments were all made, he asked his ex-wife to give her half of the money. She didn't agree and asked for her a fair share of the property.
He filed a lawsuit against her to get back all the money she owed him, which was AED 1,757,000. The Court of First Instance said that she had to pay him AED 259,000 and that they would split the costs of the lawsuit.
The man filed an appeal, and the appeals court told the woman to pay her ex-husband AED 713,000. The decision was upheld by the Court of Cassation.
