The Dubai Criminal Court has given a gang of four individuals a year in prison for exploiting a rented property as a gambling den.
The police were first informed that a private villa was being utilized as a gambling den in July of last year.
A police officer said that after getting permission from the Public Prosecution to search the property, the investigative team found several people, a cash box, and a television set. Multiple gamblers were caught red-handed, and the authorities seized AED 21,000 they found on the table.
The court also ordered the deportation of 18 convicted gamblers, giving each of them a three-month prison term and an AED 100,000 fine. In addition, it closed the villa and mandated that it remain locked until the Public Prosecutor granted permission for its reopening for legal purposes.
