Oman Announces Eid Al-Fitr Holidays for Public and Private Sectors in 2025

Holiday Period Begins March 29, 2025, With Work Resuming Based on Moon Sighting

Oman has officially declared the Eid Al-Fitr holidays for both the public and private sectors starting on Saturday, March 29, 2025, in accordance with Royal Orders. The precise end date for the holidays will depend on the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

 

Eid Al-Fitr Holiday Details:

The Ministry of Labour has outlined two possible scenarios for the end of the Eid holiday:

  • If Eid begins on Sunday, March 30, 2025, the holiday will end on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 (3rd Shawwal 1446 AH), with work resuming on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

  • If Eid begins on Monday, March 31, 2025, the holiday will extend to Thursday, April 3, 2025 (4th Shawwal 1446 AH), and work will resume on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

 

Work During Eid:

The Ministry of Labour also clarified that some businesses may continue operations during the Eid holiday if necessary. Employees working during this period will be compensated as per the regulations.

Authorities have emphasized that the official Eid start date will be confirmed based on the moon sighting, and the public is advised to follow the official announcements
