Saudi Arabia Grants 10–15 Days Paid Hajj Leave for First-Time Private Sector Pilgrims
Employers hold discretion over number of employees approved, as per Saudi Labour Contract terms

The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced that private sector employees in Saudi Arabia performing Hajj for the first time are entitled to 10 to 15 days of paid leave, inclusive of the Eid Al Adha holiday. The provision, part of the Saudi Labour Law, is applicable once during the employee’s tenure — provided they have completed at least two consecutive years with their employer and have not previously undertaken the pilgrimage.
The ministry clarified in a statement that employers retain the authority to determine the number of employees eligible for Hajj leave each year, based on business and operational requirements. This regulation aims to maintain a balance between organisational demands and employee religious rights under the labour contract.
The policy underscores employee entitlements while acknowledging workforce planning challenges, ensuring that employee rights are preserved without compromising business continuity.
This year, Hajj 2025 is expected to take place from June 4 to June 9, pending the official moon sighting. Pilgrims from within the Kingdom and around the world have already begun preparations and departures to the holy city of Mecca.
