The Sharjah Misdemeanour Court has heard a case involving the assault of an Asian national during a dispute over vehicle-washing operations in a Sharjah area.

The victim told the court that he was working in vehicle washing when he was approached by two compatriots who prevented him from carrying out a car-wash assignment after he was called to service a vehicle in the area.

He stated that the two men, who also operated in the same line of work locally, demanded money from him in exchange for allowing him to continue working in the area. When he refused to comply, the situation escalated into a physical assault.

According to the victim’s statement, he was attacked using a metal tool, resulting in multiple injuries.

During proceedings, one of the accused admitted to the charge when confronted by the court, acknowledging his involvement in the assault alongside the co-accused.

The court has adjourned the case to a later session to hear the statement of the second defendant and to complete trial procedures.
